Jameel Arts Center: Youth Takeover (2020)

The Youth Takeover is the culminating exhibition of the Jameel Arts Centre’s Assembly year-long program, in which the nine members along with their commissioned artists conduct a centre-wide takeover. The Collective Theme of the 2020 rendition of The Youth Takeover is Re-Assigning Value.

Description:

In Hermeticism, the following phrase, “As within, so without, as above, so below”, brings us to consider the duality of what goes on outside and above is a reflection of what’s going inside and considering this, what we think and feel becomes our physical reality.

As human beings, we are vessels for ideas. If we understand that objects have an expiration date, much like ourselves, and that ideas are everlasting, it can allow us to focus on creation and growth rather than superficiality.
